Eddie McKimmie

Being raised in the West Kootenay region, Eddie's appreciation for summer singletrack and deep powder turns began at an early age. However, it wasn't until he was introduced to North Vancouver's freeride scene in 2002 that his enthusiasm for mountain biking truly ignited and continues to shine within him today.

In 2011, he migrated to Vernon and hooked into a community of riders who railed corners, popped jumps and crushed tech unlike anyone he'd ever met. After learning to keep pace with the local legends, he became infatuated with rapid climbing and descending speeds.

Eventually, his skills and fitness earned him some nice race results in enduro and marathon xc. 2023 brought two podium spots and a few of top 10's in some tough events. Race results can be satisfying, but it's the epic adventure style rides that amp him up. When asked why he continues to test his limits on these mega-rides his usual response is "I just wanted to see how it feels!"

In 2019 he and Nick created Happy Trails MTB Skills Development. Eddie has coached riders since 2016 and earned his level 3 PMBIA certification in September 2024. Safely progressing the skills and confidence of his clients is the top priority in every lesson he teaches. Sharing some laughs and good conversation is also very important.

Eddie enjoys all types of pedal bikes. Whether it's scrubbing the jumps of Silverstar Bike Park, ripping a Kal Park lap at sunrise or embarrassing his buddies wearing too-tight roady clothing, he is glowing when two wheels are rotating beneath him.

For 2025 he's riding a Rocky Mountain Element and Santa Cruz Megatower.

Nick Brush

Growing up in Panorama BC, alpine skiing became Nick’s passion from a young age. His love for competition led him to become one of Canada’s fastest youth alpine racers and in 2014, earned a bronze medal in the Sochi Winter Paralympic Games for guiding a visually impaired skier. His past successes as a ski racer and coach carry over well into his other life love...riding bikes!

Nick’s sharp bike handling skills and 10 years of mountain bike coaching experience are very apparent whether you are one of his students, trying to chase him down a trail or watching him in an Enduro race. In 2018, he earned his Professional Mountain Bike(PMBI) Level 2 teaching certification.

Prior to starting Happy Trails, he worked for Endless Biking in North Vancouver then SilverStar Mountain Resort. He recently became a co-owner of Vernon’s Olympia Cycle and Ski shop. He’s also had big success competing in enduro mountain bike racing, securing 2nd place at the 2021 Canadian Enduro National Championships!

For 2025, he's on a Specialized Stumpjumer. Nick’s favorite trails are Rock is the New Berm, 36DD and Fraidy Cat. He prefers his trails techy, steep and wild. According to him, pineapple on pizza is a sin.
